“Building Relationships is key to Success”

As an educator for the past 21 years, I strongly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. I further believe that building relationships with faculty, staff, parents, students, and community members is the key to success in education. As a coach, I feel the most accomplished when I get to plan and support teachers on their road to success that results in the ultimate goal of student growth. I further believe that for a school to be successful all stakeholders should be involved in the decision making process.

I am a graduate of Tougaloo College where I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and I have also earned a Masters in Supervision and Instruction from Mississippi College. Upon my graduation, my teaching career began in August of 1996 in Mississippi where I won the hearts of my first graders. I taught in Mississippi for the next two years prior to moving to Georgia. My teaching career begin in the state of Georgia with me working at Glen Haven Elementary School followed by Bethune Middle School. In addition to having been a seventh grade teacher at Bethune Middle School, I have served in the capacity of Department Chair, Building Leadership Team Member, Sponsor of Math Counts team, as well as a mentor to several teachers. In addition to these leadership positions, I have had the privilege of developing, evaluating, and implementing the curriculum for Middle School Math at the district level. These leadership opportunities not only provided me with a platform to do what I love, but also molded and guided over the years to prepare for my next education position as the Math Instructional Coach at Redan Middle School in 2006. My coaching career did not stop there. In 2011, I begin my journey as the Academic Data Coach here at The Champion Theme Middle School. At CTMS, I have had the privilege of working with a dynamic faculty and staff in order to plan for instruction, analyze data, plan and implement professional development, guide and mold new and existing teachers, as well as spearhead the afterschool and summer boot camp tutorial sessions.

Last but not least, I have been married to my wonderful husband, Daniel, for the past 19 years. I am mom to two past Champion Chargers (Jeremiah and Justin) and one current Champion Charger (Jada). My goal as Educational Support Professional II of the Year is to continuously serve “The Champion Theme Middle School” to the best of my abilities.
