Service Learning and the Champion Drama Department
Champion is an official Service Learning school. This interdisciplinary, project based learning provides opportunities for children to participate in community service projects while learning desired academic goals at the same time!
The Drama Department has teamed with the
Alliance Theatre for our Service Learning experience. Periodically, we will usher at the Alliance Theatre. Ushering provides our students the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of professional theatre up close and personal. Students learn important vocabulary and seating layouts, ticketing, programs, theatre etiquette, and as a bonus, they get to see a live performance as they serve!
Opportunities to usher will be announced during Drama Club meetings and during class. Please keep the following things in mind:
- Permission slips are REQUIRED to attend.
- Parents must provide transportation to and from the theatre.
- Students must wear ASSEMBLY attire.
- Students should eat before reporting to usher.
- Optional - bring $3-6 for snacks/beverage during intermission.
- We are depending on you to serve - no last minute backing out.
